About Our Products

After experimenting with countless substrates for our many species of reptiles, we were not satisfied and wanted something new. Our criteria were simple. We wanted a product that could hold humidity, while being easy to clean, dust free, and most importantly, safe for our animals

I never do reviews for anything but I have been so impressed with ReptiChip since I started using it a year ago . It comes compact and expands a crazy ton, holds humidity great and doesn't mold at all from my experience, really worth what you get for $30 maybe they give too much but hey I'll take it lol.Overall love the product and don't plan on switching any time soon.

This stuff is fantastic for maintaining humidity for my ball python. I foil taped the screen, have a large water bowl in the enclosure, and refill it every couple days. That’s all I have to do to maintain 65% humidity. Hydrating it was pretty straightforward, I used a big Rubbermaid bin, and stored the ReptiChip in that bin for when I needed to switch our what was in the enclosure. Highly recommend

After much research on substrate for my ball python I decided on ReptiChip. So far, so good. It's holding the humidity at the proper level. I haven't noticed any color transferring onto my snake either which is great. The only downside to the product is when only having 1 snake it's hard to get the "correct" amount off the brick. I also used too much water trying to soften it and spiked my humidity. Thankfully it was a hot sunny day and I simply spread the chips out on a baking sheet and tried them out. Since then my humidity has been spot on!

It was easy to work with; I just sprayed it with a hose and waited for a while, gradually chipping pieces off with a shovel. It did take longer than 15 minutes to rehydrate; it was closer to 45 mins, but still not a ton of effort. It filled up about half of a large plastic container once it was fully expanded. I try to keep substrate for my skink's enclosure at about 2-3" depth in a 4ft x 2ft enclosure. I think I will easily get about 2.5 fills out of this block of coconut chips, which is a pretty great deal. I just stored the excess in a plastic bin. It doesn't seem to be very dusty, and absorbed water effectively without actually getting wet. It smells very nice; not "earthy" at all. The pieces don't have any sharp edges, and look large enough to keep most any animals from eating them.

I'm really digging this stuff. As a small time hobbiest/breeder, every penny counts. You want the best for your animals, without costing you an arm and a leg. We have tried many coco-based products over the years. ReptiChip was the first one we came across that wasn't a fine powder or didn't have that God awful chemical smell. I like the fact that it is in good size chips so I don't have to wear a mask when changing substrate. That being said, it really is (almost) dust free. 1 brick is enough for ten 28qt tubs with some to spare. When soaking the brick, you will want o use a large (71qt) tote. Bottom line, the stuff works great and lasts a long time. The price is competitive and completely justifiable. If you only have 1 snake/reptile, a single brick will last you forever. If you have multiple snakes, this (in my opinion) seems to be the best bang for your buck.

I absolutely love this substrate. I use it in a 18x18x24" glass cage for my brazilian rainbow boa, and it's dense enough that it provides a solid floor, but it's loose enough that he can really dig in it, which he loves and does every day. When I first got it I thought it would be too scratchy and rough but after it gets moistened and loosened, it softens up and it's great, it's not too scratchy at all. It holds the moisture really well and doesn't mold very much at all. I replace all the substrate every 2-3 months, and of course pick out his poop any time I see any, and I think that system is working well. It means I only have to buy one of these bricks 1 or 2 times a year so it's very affordable. Just be aware it comes very compressed and it can be a bit tricky trying to break it apart. But that's not a big deal to me and it still deserves 5 stars.

I've had terrible luck with trying different beddings for my snakes, and so many ordered both online and bought at stores in person have either been awful quality or housing mites. I read the reviews for this and decided to give it a try and extremely impressed! I have absolutely NO complaints, and the snakes are comfortable, the humidity levels are staying great (in spite of our current weather and house temp), and it looks great as well as not having a strong smell at all too. Very, very pleased with this purchase, and I will definitely be using this brand from now on!

I've tried different types of substrate and this is the best stuff I've come across. Holds humidity well. The size of this block covers A LOT! I filled two terrariums and still had plenty leftover. Super easy to get the block ready. There's a YouTube video on their website, but basically you put it in a tub, turn it upside down, make two incisions across the top. Take out the paper in front, fill with water on both sides to the top. Wait a few minutes, turn it over and make a long incision from top bottom to top to essentially empty out the bedding, and that's it.
