As an Animal Care Specialist at ReptiChip, you will play an essential role in maintaining the health and well being of our collection of reptiles and other animals. Working under the guidance of our Animal Care Manager, you’ll assist with daily husbandry, enclosure maintenance, feeding, record keeping, and organization while ensuring every animal receives exceptional care. This is a full time, Monday through Friday position that requires consistency, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for animal care.
Work Description:
- Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of feeder colony and reptile enclosures
- Feed animals according to established care schedules and protocols
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to the Animal Care Manager
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary animal rooms and work areas
- Organize, identify, and update hatchlings and growing animals
- Record animal information, feeding records, hatch dates, and other data in company databases
- Assist with breeding, incubation, and hatchling management as directed
- Ensure proper temperatures, humidity, lighting, and environmental conditions are maintained
- Assist with inventory of animal care supplies and equipment
- Follow all safety and biosecurity procedures in accordance with preventative medicine protocols
- Work closely with the Animal Care Manager to maintain the highest standard of animal care
Necessary Skills:
- Genuine passion for reptiles and exotic animals
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
- Comfortable working around snakes and feeder animals
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness
- Excellent organizational skills and accurate data entry abilities
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently after training
- Willingness to learn and continuously improve husbandry knowledge
