Waxy monkey tree frog (Phyllomedusa sauvagii). These frogs are known for their unique appearance and behavior, including their waxy skin and arboreal lifestyle. They are native to parts of South America and are characterized by their vibrant coloration and large, webbed feet that aid in climbing. Their diet typically consists of insects, and they have adaptations such as adhesive toe pads to cling to trees and other surfaces. They generate many different pharmacologically active peptides as part of the defensive secretions covering their skin. Several of these peptides have found scientific uses as research. Unlike other species of tree frog, they do not jump very often. They prefer to do a lot of climbing. They are nocturnal and will spend the majority of the day sleeping. They are active hunters and do great in smaller groups. They are great beginner amphibians.
