Jackson's Chameleons, scientifically known as Trioceros jacksonii, are striking reptiles native to the cool, humid highlands of East Africa, specifically Kenya and Tanzania. Known for their vivid green coloration and the distinctive three-horned structure on the males' heads, which resemble that of a triceratops, they are among the most visually distinctive chameleons. These horns are used in territorial fights and play a role in attracting females. Females, however, generally lack these horns and are smaller in size. Jackson's Chameleons are arboreal, spending most of their time in trees and shrubs where their prehensile tails, which they use as a fifth limb, aid in climbing and stability.

Jackson’s Chameleons are known for their incredible eyes, which can swivel independently, allowing them to look in two different directions at once—a critical adaptation for spotting predators and prey. They primarily feed on insects, capturing them with their long, sticky tongues that can extend twice the length of their body at incredible speed. In terms of reproduction, Jackson’s Chameleons are ovoviviparous. Unlike many other reptiles, they give birth to live young instead of laying eggs. Females can give birth to 8 to 30 live young after a gestation period of about six months. These young are miniature versions of adults and are independent from birth, climbing and fending for themselves immediately. Their adaptability and distinct characteristics have made them popular in the exotic pet trade, though they require specific care to thrive, including proper temperature gradients, humidity, and UVB lighting to mimic their natural environment.
